At Newday Junior School, learning goes beyond textbooks and blackboards. As part of our holistic education approach, our learners recently embarked on an exciting educational trip to a local bakery and church. This experience gave them a deeper understanding of real-world skills, teamwork, creativity, and spiritual growth.
🥖 First Stop: The Bakery – Where Learning Tastes Delicious!
Our first visit was to a nearby modern bakery, where the children were welcomed by professional bakers who gave them a guided tour of the entire baking process.
What the learners saw and learned at the bakery:
-
How ingredients like flour, yeast, sugar, and eggs are mixed to make bread and cakes.
-
The different types of ovens and machines used in baking.
-
How cleanliness and hygiene are strictly maintained in food production.
-
The importance of teamwork in producing large batches of baked goods.
🎉 The highlight for many was tasting fresh bread and cupcakes straight from the oven! Learners also got a chance to ask questions and interact with the bakers, helping them connect science and math concepts from class to real life.
“I never knew baking needed so much measuring and timing. It’s like doing math and science in the kitchen!” – Pupil, P.5
⛪ Next Stop: The Church – Growing Spiritually
After a tasty and informative visit to the bakery, the next destination was a beautiful local church, where the learners had a quiet and reflective time.
Key lessons from the church visit:
-
The significance of respecting places of worship and understanding church etiquette.
-
The role of the church in building a moral and God-fearing community.
-
Biblical stories about hard work, kindness, and obedience, shared by the church leaders.
-
A short devotion and worship session helped children connect with their spiritual foundation.
“The church reminded us to always be thankful and to help others, just like Jesus did.” – Pupil, P.6
🧠 What Learners Took Away from the Trip
This field trip was more than just a day out—it was a practical life lesson that:
-
Taught them the value of hard work and cleanliness.
-
Reinforced moral and spiritual values like gratitude, patience, and discipline.
-
Showed them how different people work together to serve others in the community.
-
Encouraged career curiosity—many pupils were inspired by the baking profession!
📷 A Day to Remember
With big smiles, full notebooks, and inspired minds, our learners returned to school full of stories and lessons from the field trip. The joy and excitement were clearly seen as they shared their experiences with friends and teachers.
🙌 Thank You, Parents and Staff!
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the parents who supported this trip and to our teachers and staff for organizing it. At Newday Junior School, we believe in providing “Knowledge for Life”, and that includes hands-on learning opportunities like these.
